Compassion

I am…compassionate.

With the recent event in Connecticut it feels like a time for compassion. Morgan Freeman even wrote in Facebook to turn off the television in order to stop supporting the networks talk about the killer. Here is what he said: “You can help by forgetting you ever read the man’s name, and remembering the name of at least one victim. You can help by donating to mental health research instead of pointing to gun control as the problem. You can help by turning off the news.”

I agree with what he is saying about listening to television is no way to support the victims and their families. I had already decided on my own to turn off the television. I feel it is more of a time to pray for the victims and their families.

Quotes on compassion:

•“Love and compassion are necessities, not luxuries. Without them humanity cannot survive.” – Dalai Lama

•“Wisdom, compassion, and courage are the three universally recognized moral qualities of men.” – Confucius

•“But my experience is that people who have been through painful, difficult times are filled with compassion.” – Amy Grant

•“For me, forgiveness and compassion are always linked how do we hold people accountable for wrongdoing and yet at the same time remain in touch with their humanity enough to believe in their capacity to be transformed?” – Bell Hooks
