Retreat

I love going to retreats at Stillheart Institute.

I attended a two day staff retreat at Stillheart Institute in Woodside last week. I stayed in a Tree House. I was able to come the night before the retreat started. Teresa from staff fixed us chili relleno for dinner that night. They were delicious. Then I spent 25 minutes soaking in the hot tub. Next off to bed with windows open so I can listen to all the crickets.

I have attended several retreats at Stillheart Institute.  It is such a relaxing place which starts upon stepping out of the car and breathing in the scent of pine trees. There are trails to hike, a library to sit and read in, saline pool to swim in and a labyrinth to walk.

Quotes on retreat:

•”Nowhere can man find a quieter or more untroubled retreat than in his own soul.” – Marcus Aurelius

•“That perfect tranquility of life, which is nowhere to be found but in retreat, a faithful friend and a good library.” – Aphra Behn

•”Retreat is for those who desire to deeply realize the truth of their being and the essence of existence. Retreat offers time to step back from the course of daily life and enter into the Unknown, in an environment that provides both structure and support.” – Adyashanti

•”Within you there is a stillness and a sanctuary to which you can retreat at any time and be yourself.” — Hermann Hesse

•”A retreat is not a substitute for daily life. It should be a booster and an accelerator of the spiritual journey – you go a long way in a short time.” – Father Thomas Keating
